The Importance of a Warranty

I like value for money, but I am also happy to pay for quality and, in the case of my Rukka trousers, I am glad I did. As well as the five-year warranty (extended to six years by the distributor), they are also covered by Gore's **GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY** promise, which lasts for the lifetime of the garment, provided you have looked after them properly.
I had occasion to put this to the test when my trousers, purchased in January 2022, started to leak on the recent CWAM Scotland Tour and then repeated the trick on Howard's two-day trip to Llandudno.
I first contacted the retailer, Motolegends, who offered me a couple of options, one of which was to contact Gore directly, as they felt this would be the fastest way to have my claim dealt with. So I gave the toll-free number a call and spoke to Ruben, who handled my claim from start to finish. After reviewing the photos they requested, Gore asked me to post the trousers to their repair centre in Lancashire for inspection.
Five days later, they confirmed that the trousers were indeed leaking and arranged to refund me the full original purchase price, along with the cost of postage.
This kind of service, and the willingness to stand behind their product, is becoming increasingly rare these days, in my experience. In this instance, it certainly proved worthwhile paying that little bit extra for quality.
It's reassuring to know that when you buy quality, you're sometimes buying excellent after-sales support as well.
