Notes from the Chair
Ian Collard, Tuesday, 17 June 2025
Sad but true, I’ve spent the last couple of days trying to think of a better title for this piece, but unfortunately Mark, my predecessor, snaffled the best one. So, for now this will have to do.
The year is now in full flight and the club is busy. We have supported Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership at their recent event at the Piston Club and there are more to follow:
July 19th (Ladies Day) and September 9th, which we will also be supporting.
After a weather-affected start to the year which saw no test passes, we are now up 7 for the year and we’ve been able to present some well-deserved certificates. Onwards and upwards!!
The social rides are well attended and there are more in the diary. There are a few spaces though, so if you have a favourite ride or café (always important), why not take us there?
The club nights continue to be well supported and Kenny has settled into his new Social Secretary role well. When the speaker for the last evening was unable to attend, he “recruited” John Chivers to do a talk on riding in mainland Europe. The evening was a great success, partly collaborative, and I think we all left having learnt something. Thanks, John. Next month another club member, Dave Shakespeare is bringing along a lorry (parking has been allocated) to illustrate what mirrorless trucks mean to us. It should be another good night.
We have plans for an Open Day on 21st September. When I say plans, we’ve booked Shilton Village Hall for the day, there aren’t actually any firm plans as yet. It could be anything: recruitment (if needed), post-test rides or… What do you think?
If anyone has any thoughts, let me or any committee member know. All ideas gratefully received.
That’s all for now, enjoy the nice weather, see you soon.
Ian
