New View from the Chair

Ian Collard, Sunday, 23 March 2025

It’s been roughly a month now since I assumed, or perhaps more accurately re-assumed, the role of Chair at CWAM. After a number of years on the committee, it was a privilege to get your vote, thanks very much. I look forward to serving the club for the coming year.

To summarise the month so far, starting with the AGM which was a lively affair. It was good see so many of the attending membership get involved in the discussions. At the end of the day that’s how it should be and what the AGM is for, it’s the members opportunity to have their say on the direction of the club.

As we’ve come into March the weather has improved. The Club Sundays have resumed and been well attended, as have the Social Rides. The weather also delayed the start of the 2025 Observer Training course, and the Training Team have been out every weekend in March to catch up with the course applicants' riding assessments.

The March Club Night was a cracker, if a little cramped due to a double booking in the larger room. By the way, after the night we did double-check all our future bookings and that was the only one not in the diary, so hopefully there should be no recurrence. The Air Ambulance is a great cause, one we all hope never to need, but the fact it’s there should give us all peace of mind. We were told all about how they work and where from and how they plan their flights, etc. A bucket was passed around and we held an “auction” and managed the raise over £330.00 toward the cause. Well done all.

No photo’s this time, I’m still learning the new tech’. Maybe next time.

That’s all for now, I’m at most club events so don’t hesitate to come over for a chat.

All the best.

Ian
