Rideouts are CWAM’s opportunity to enjoy the open road and visit new places. They come in all shapes and sizes from a local run of a few hours to all day tours further afield. There is enough information on the Events Diary for you to decide if the run is suitable for you. Rideout leaders ensure there are sufficient fuel stops and comfort breaks along the way. Ride outs offer associates an opportunity to improve their confidence as they see the more experienced riders in action. Most just go along for the fun of it but you may choose to pair up with an observer and treat some or all of the trip as an observed ride. For full members, they’re a good excuse to eat up the miles with their mates. Whether a full or associate member, as with all CWAM group activities, they are above all an occasion for socialising and enjoying yourself.
Group Riding techniques.
It is essential that those wishing to join a CWAM rideout familiarise with the ‘system’ adopted when riding as a member of group by, as a minimum, viewing our Social Riding Guidelines Video.
Format of run
Riders need to arrive with a full fuel tank of fuel in time for the briefing which takes place 10 minutes before the off. Unless advertised as a GBH (Green Badge Holder) run, all rides are deemed suitable for Associates of any standard but please let the run leader know if you are short on group riding experience. IAM RoadSmart state that a legal helmet with suitable eye protection, motorcycle clothing, gloves and footwear that offer impact protection must be worn when riding.
If you would like to lead a rideout or have any questions regarding rideouts, please contact our social ride coordinator John Chivers.

CWAM occasionally offers the opportunity to join in longer trips. In past years we have enjoyed tours of The Lakes & North Yorks Moors and Scotland.
